I am currently working on a project called “10 of 10” as part of my effort to rebuild my portfolio. The objective of this project is to assist 10 Life Coaches in building or revamping their websites to showcase their brand and personality. The collaboration involves understanding how they wish to portray themselves to their audience and letting their website speak for itself.
One of the Life Coaches I am working with is Suzy Belcher, based in Kenya. During our first meeting, we decided to realign her brand color to have a more feminine look for the site. Additionally, we wanted to incorporate Safari elements to establish her location and convey her transformational journey.
The challenge of this project was mixing African design elements while keeping the website elegant and reflective of a Life Coach website. Too many Safari elements could make the site appear more like a travel and tours website, which could confuse viewers.
After preparing two design directions and working with Suzy, we found the perfect balance. The grunge smoky effect applied to her main images complements the Safari
background images we used for several sections, portraying her dreamy transformational journey. We incorporated a soft variation of pink and yellow with a hint of brownish tone to have an earthly tone.
Overall, working on Suzy’s website was enjoyable and pleasant. She was cooperative and supportive, providing all necessary materials promptly and replying promptly to prevent any delays. I appreciated her allowing me to inject my creative inputs into the website.
